Community Outreach

At the core of Florida Arts and Dance Company's mission statement is the enhancement of the community's cultural awareness.  The performances, education, training and dance scholarships FADC has provided over the years have been a large part of meeting that goal.  However, the FADC's commitment to Martin and St. Lucie Counties doesn't stop there.

With grants from the Community Foundation for Palm Beach & Martin Counties and the United Way, Florida Arts and Dance Company has been proud to touch the lives of some very special Treasure Coast residents with its "Let's Dance" and "Dance Inclusion" programs.

The Let's Dance program provides professional dance lessons in Jazz or Tap to elementary school aged youth that would otherwise be unable to participate because of family financial constraints.

Let's Dance was developed with several specific objectives in mind.  FADC felt that giving youths in need the opportunity to be a part of a family-oriented Dance Company in a professional dance studio would increase these young people's self-esteem, help them develop new skills, and also to foster talents that may eventually result in college scholarships.  These benefits are further enhanced by enabling the participants to perform for the public in a professional theater arena.

The program was also intended to promote the racial, cultural and economic diversity of our community by ensuring the inclusion of a broad cross-section of our youth population in dance education in Martin County.

Dance Inclusion, the newest of these programs, is intended to to provide a therapeutic dance, exercise and music program for local children with special needs.  This program was made possible by a $9,500 Huizenga Children's Grant for 2001/02 by the United Way of Martin County.
