St. Lucie County, Florida

St. Lucie County

This Florida county has already established a reputation as a center for boating and fishing. People who choose to live in St. Lucie County are attracted by its climate, location, favorable lifestyle and affordable properties.

Since it was established as the 25th county in 1844, St. Lucie County has evolved into a tourist destination that attracts visitors from all over the world and a residential community that appeals to both young families and retirees.  Its little wonder why organizations such as the PGA, and the New York Mets also make this their winter home.

Gaining a reputation as a major golf center, the Professional Golfers Association has redefined the nature of tourism on the Treasure Coast. The opened three golf courses and is adding a fourth course. The PGA has opened a state of the art golf learning center. To further accommodate the anticipated increase in visiting golfers, two hotels as well as a time share resort will be built at PGA at The Reserve. Already open, with more under construction, are golf villas that offer yet another choice for golfers.

Across I-95 at St. Lucie West, you'll find hotels with conference facilities and a new lakefront apartment resort complex.  Nearby, the PGA established the PGA Golf Club at The Reserve, calling it the PGA's Winter Home.  Besides golf, outstanding beaches and beach parks on the barrier island are a tremendous draw attracting visitors from everywhere. The opening of the Radisson Beach Resort on North Hutchinson Island is a welcome source of hotel rooms on the oceanfront. Its two restaurants and conference facilities have led to bookings far into the future.

Vast acreage is one of the county's major assets. Its three incorporated entities, Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie Village, occupy less than 17 percent of its 581 square miles.
